Fall colors on Trabuco Canyon Trail
Trabuco Creek Road between Holy Jim and Trabuco Canyon Trail trailhead.
It looks like fall has finally made it to our canyons. A quick trip to Trabuco Canyon Trail last Sunday turned up what I would describe as an average fall color display for the area. Unless we get strong Santa Ana winds or a very heavy rain, we won't reach peak colors for a few more weeks. Although we don't get the dramatic colors of the Sierra, Rockies or east coast, our fall colors tend to last at least a month or two.
Trabuco Creek Road one mile east of the entrance to the Cleveland National Forest.

Quick trip to Catalina
Jenny & I took a quick trip on the boat to Avalon last Thursday. It's been years since we've been here and it was a nice getaway for the day.

What the heck is Los Rios and why are we going there?
It usually starts something like that. Fellow photographar Carl Garrard will have an idea of where we can go to practice our photography. Last Sunday morning it was the Los Rios neighborhood in the historical district of San Juan Capistrano. We went down there to practice low-light hand held (no tripod) photography using only one prime (not zoom) lens, in Los Rios and the adjacent train station. If you are into photography, it's a great exercise. Find an unfamiliar location and restrict your equipment to get out of your comfort zone.
