Photographer buddy Carl Garrard and I headed out to the Balboa Peninsula Sunday morning to shoot some photos. Our mission was to use a couple of old cameras we picked up on ebay for about $25. In my case, I bought a 4MP Canon S45 which was a state-of-the-art point & shoot from about 10 years ago.
Sine it was early morning, I shot mostly at iso 400, the maximum for that camera.
While Carl stayed true to the mission and used only the two old cameras he brought with him, I cheated and got the shots below with my 5DmkII (below).
Great shots! That snowy egret looked like he wanted a shot of that man's coffee.

Thanks Arleen. Plenty of birds to photograph that morning. BTW, my wife and I got our first look at a wild mountain lion out your way yesterday on Avenida de Encanto in La Cresta. Too quick to get a photo though, but awesome animal.

Keith, that is really awesome! Encanto is a few miles south of us near the Cleveland NF. Too bad you weren't able to get a photo. In the summer of 2010, we had a notice on our mailbox about a mountain lion sighting (female with 2 cubs) around our cul-de-sac, but we never caught a glimpse of them. Since then, we've set up a motion detector camera outside in hopes of eventually getting a shot of one of these elusive creatures.
